Frisbee Dog Halftime Show for Basketball Games
Halftime Dogs performs frisbee dog halftime shows for college, high school, and professional basketball. The show runs 5 to 6 minutes, needs no setup, and fits inside your halftime with time to spare.
Nothing to set up
We require no equipment other than a stack of frisbees. When it’s our turn we walk out onto the court and start performing, and we finish on time.
What the show looks like on a basketball court
High-energy freestyle disc choreographed to music: multi-disc sequences, vaults where the dog launches off the handler’s body, and big-air catches. On a court the show is built around what happens up close and fast, which is a better fit for an arena than long throws would be. The crowd in the upper bowl sees the whole routine.
A standard show is one to two performers and two to three dogs. We can run shorter or longer to fit your run of show. We’ve done 1-minute pregame teasers and 25-minute ground shows.
It fits your halftime
Five to six minutes fits comfortably inside a standard halftime with room on either side for your own reads and sponsor spots. Tell us your window and we’ll build to it.
If your halftime is already committed, the show also works pregame or during timeouts.
Your floor is fine
This is the first question most facilities managers ask, so here’s the direct answer.
- The dogs wear boots on hard flooring. No claw marks and no scuffs.
- Nothing gets taped down, covered, or laid out on the floor.
- Dogs are crated when they’re not performing.
If your facilities staff wants to talk to us directly before the date, we’ll take that call.
What we need from you
- Court access at halftime. We stage at the tunnel or the baseline and go on as soon as the teams are off.
- A way to get the dogs and crates into the building. Any route that isn’t a long haul through a packed concourse.
- Somewhere to wait with the dogs. A practice court, a hallway, an unused locker room. It doesn’t need to be nice, and if there’s a warm-up area available we’ll use it while we’re waiting.
- Your run of show a few days out so we know exactly when we’re on.
No rehearsal is required and we don’t need floor time before the game.
Sound and music
Whatever your venue already does. Most of the time the crew in the booth plays whatever the crowd likes and the guys perform to it. If you’d rather have music ahead of time, ask and we’ll send you a track.
Who’s actually performing at your game
Jonathan Offi performs the large majority of our shows. He’s a world champion and one of the few people doing this at a professional level full time.
Behind him is a roster of world champions, world qualifiers, and record holders. Because we have several performance teams rather than a single act, we can cover dates other shows have to turn down, and if something unexpected happens, your halftime still happens.
Meet the performers and their dogs.
Where we’ve performed
Halftime Dogs has been performing at basketball games since 2013, and Todd and Jonathan were doing this years before that. We’ve performed hundreds of shows for the NBA, NCAA, and conference tournaments. The full season-by-season history is on the shows page.
Common questions from basketball venues
How long is the halftime show?
Five to six minutes, which fits inside a standard halftime with time on either side. We can run shorter or longer to fit your run of show.
How much setup time do you need?
None. We require no equipment other than a stack of frisbees. When it’s our turn we walk out onto the court and start performing, and we finish on time.
Do you need a rehearsal?
No. If you have a practice court or warm-up area available we’ll use it while we’re waiting, but no rehearsal is required and we don’t need floor time before the game.
Will the dogs damage our hardwood?
The dogs wear boots on hard flooring. There are no claw marks or scuffs, and nothing needs to be taped down or laid out on the floor.
Do we need to provide sound or music?
No. We use whatever your venue already runs, and most venues just play something the crowd likes. If you want music from us instead, ask and we’ll send you a track ahead of the game.
How much space does the show need?
A standard basketball court is plenty. The show is designed for it and doesn’t need anything beyond the playing surface.
Can you perform during timeouts or pregame instead?
Yes. If your halftime is committed to something else, we can perform pregame or work your timeouts.
How many dogs perform?
Usually two to three, with one to two performers.
Are you insured?
Yes. Certificates of insurance are available and we’ll name your institution as required. Details are on the booking page.
